Prince of Funk
Is Prince the prince of FUNK?
Musicology
Personally I would say so, and in the steps of the Kings of funk like [tag]James Brown[/tag] and George Clinton, Prince is on he’s way to becoming a King of Funk. Ahmm.. mabey I should stop with these monarchistic terms as I don’t subscribe to them.
I heard Prince’s Musicology cd a few weeks back and I thought “Yes, this guy has a DEEP scence of music, particularly the Funky kind”. Honestly, some tracks on this CD are just pure G. I would even take my hat off to have a jam with this dude.

Well...
Prince can not be considered Funk anymore.
In the 80's he once pushed the shit further, but let's face facts, he copies on & on what he did, without the respect of a true creator.
He is definitly in the Guiness Book Of Records for many reasons, but he is just a detail in the Funk History. The BLack ALbum is personnally the last album I consider a good one. Great moments sometimes... before going down to the bottom of good taste !
He insults is own past with cheappy song written in obviously 4 minutes, arranged with the wrong sounds on his keyboards...
To old to Funk.
In a 30 years carreer he did less than Sly between 69 and 70 !
Prince needs to do a show with Maceo Parker and crew. That would be dope as hell...
Maybe my funk band could open? Check us out at http://www.jfreshmusic.com
Prince is the 80's representation of the FUNK. The last LIVE funkateer who held the tradition of the ONE and James Brown onstage. There is no question that he is FUNKY. The question is who is after Prince. Who is carrying the torch and where did the FUNK go?
I'd say D'angelo was the spark in the 90's who kept live music alive and hip-hop wouldn't exist with out the FUNK to sample but the powers that be keep FUNK from the children. Prince is gettin old and he's the youngin in the FUNK compared to Geroge, Sly, James (RIP) and so on...
What we need is to seek out the new FUNKATEERS and support the evolution of the FUNK.
I believe in the FUNK...I believe in the ONE...and we are on a crusade to save the children from the ANTI-FUNK and those who wish to oppress the FUNKY.
check new funk...

In His Dreams Maybe But Of FUNK MUSIC?? Not Possible Because He Concentrated Too Much On A More POP SOUND To Sell Records. I GIve Him Credit, When He Made Funky Songs, It Sounded Good But Then He Just Continued Making All That Weak Radio Pop Music. Its Sad Because His Roots Are Funky But When You Think Of Him, FUNK MUSIC Doesn't Come To Mind At First. I Would Agree With This, You Can Say That He Is The King Or Prince Of The GREAT MINNEAPOLIS Funky Sound(MPLS SOUND). Peace
FONK FOR LIFE
Hmmm, thats one way of looking at it.
Peace
DId anyone see the clip on you tube when James Brown invited Prince and Michael Jackson on stage? That was funny. Prince was carried to stage by his bodyguard, then he mustta thought HE was the KING of Funk.. only thing is the real Godfather and King of funk and soul was standing next to him.
Prince is certainly the pricne of FUNK. Actually he looks more like the gatekeeper of FUNK protecting it and only allowing in what can really become funky.
Peace
